Both events are official Louisiana State Chess Association events - current membership in the USCF and the LCA are required for all players. LCA memberships are $15 for adult players (age 18 and over) and $5 for scholastic players (age under 18) - Other States' Memberships Accepted - both may be purchased or renewed on site. *Winner of Louisiana State Championship Title must be a Louisiana resident or full-time student in a Louisiana School/University and must be able to provide some kind of identification showing Louisiana residency (i.e., driver's license, state I.D. card, or current school I.D.) in order to win the title of state champion. Louisiana state champion also receives the LA State Trophy to keep for one year until the 2019 LA State Championship Tournament.
In the event of a tie, the Louisiana State Champion will be determined by USCF-recommended computer tiebreaks.

BYES
Up to three 1/2-point byes available if requested prior to the final pairing of Round 3 (approximately 9am on Sunday morning) and before any full-point bye is awarded. Requesting byes for both Rounds 6 AND 7 is not permitted.

...the rules may permit a player to take a half point bye in a given round. It is only allowed if adequate notice has been given and is agreed to by the arbiter.... It is not permitted in the last round of a tournament.

ELECTRONIC NOTATION DEVICES
The only four electronic chess notation devices which are approved for and allowed in a USCF-rated tournament are the Monroi, the e-Notate PDA, the Plycount and the Chess NoteR. You may use any of these devices, but the device must remain on top of the table at all times (you may not hold it under the table in your lap or under the tablecloth). The tournament director has the right to request to see your notation device at any time before, during or after your game. Notation scoresheets will be available to all players.

Blitz On-Site Registration
On site anytime prior to 7:45 pm. First round starts at 8pm. Rounds immediately follow each other; tournament should end around 11pm.
Tiebreaks
USCF-recommended computer tiebreaks will decide trophy and title, if necessary.

Players should bring their chess boards, pieces and clocks, if available.
USCF & FIDE Tournament rules will be enforced for all sections of the main event.
Chess notation required for main event. Individual score sheets will be available to the players.
Chess Vendor (Cajun Chess) will be on site.
Please bring a sweater or a light jacket as sometimes it gets very cold in hotel ballrooms.
