The Louisiana State Scholastic Chess Championships will soon be upon us!
Once again . . . at this year's tournament two Louisiana representatives will be determined:
The winner of the K-12-Open Section will be named the official 2017 LA representative* to the national Arnold Denker Tournament of High School Champions which will take place in conjunction with the 2017 U.S. Open Tournament from July 29-Aug. 6 in Norfolk, Virginia.
*NOTE: K-12 Denker representative must be a high school student currently in grade 9, 10, 11 or 12 AND must be a resident of Louisiana.
The winner of the K-8-Open Section will be named the official 2017 LA representative to the national Dewain Barber Tournament of Middle School Champions which will take place in conjunction with the 2017 U.S. Open Tournament from July 29-Aug. 6 in Norfolk, Virginia.
*NOTE: K-8 Barber representative can be in any grade 8th or below but must play in the K-8-Open section of the tournament. There is no age limit except that the player cannot have entered 9th grade yet AND must be a resident of Louisiana.
Only Louisiana residents are eligible to play in the K-8-Open Section and the K-12-Open Section, since these two sections will determine the above-mentioned Louisiana representatives at their respective tournaments in Norfolk, Virginia.
